Mysterious Reflections

This week marks one entire year since Covid-19 hit us in the US full force.

My last meeting room full of people without masks, sitting close together and hugging without care was Thursday, March 12, 2020.

We all thought that within a couple weeks the world would be back to normal.

Instinctively before everything shut down I took the opportunity to rush to the studio to record a video on photographing foster pets.

Over the next months I continued to create YouTube videos every week to help individuals and causes.

FaceTime photoshoots became popular and my video on that subject has hundreds of views.

Pluto Living the little talking schnauzer from Canada became a star so I made a My Talking Pet app tutorial too which has over 5,000 views.

I experimented with lilac flowers with Bailey in my back yard in the spring.

To my great surprise I somehow kept up with YouTube content. It doesn’t pay anything but it kept me creative and connected.

In that time something magical appeared – a new community. By summer 2020 Pro Pet Photogs emerged. I started an Instagram, separate email list, and a private facebook group.

Spoiler alert: In the coming weeks I plan on launching a new branch of my business to help serve volunteer, aspiring pros and established professional pet photographers.

Don’t worry I am still 100% dedicated to my photography and videography services and am ready to serve you right now!

But I can’t help reflect on the last 12 months in wonder. Would I have seen this need otherwise? Would I have started serving fellow pet photographers? Would I have continued with YouTube?

Life can be strange, and sad and twisty, and mysterious. And it can lead us into places we never knew existed.

Reflecting on your year what emerged for you?
