Living in California before college Anisha had horses she regularly rode English style. Not having a horse in Colorado for many years seemed a hole ready to fill.
As a now second year veterinary student at Colorado State University (CSU) Anisha couldn’t help but find a horse right?
After looking around for months she finally heard about Slick.

Ranchers on the plains had Slick and several other horses with no one to ride them after the children left for college. So while Slick roamed around pastures with the cattle all day he needed a person to give him individual attention.
During the photo session I asked Anisha how she chose Slick.
“While driving up to the ranch I spotted Slick in the field and knew he was the one.” Yup, just like that.
Within minutes of my arrival at the barn I knew what she meant. Slick really likes to be around people. In a dog-like manner he stays where he’s asked, follows people eagerly, and loves treats.
In the few weeks since bringing Slick home Anisha is learning more Western riding techniques, is finding local riding trails, and is deepening her bond with Slick every day.
